Tonight is the Night......

Tonight is the night, when Dead leaves fly

Like Witches on Switches across the sky

When Elf and Sprite flit through the night

On a moony sheen-

Cemeteries

I love to take photos of old cemeteries.   In honor of Halloween, I've spooked them out just a little!

Mother-in-Law Day

Today is a day to recognize all those mothers-in-law out there.  I had an amazing mother-in-law. She taught me how to cook oxtail stew and make chicken gizzards that weren't like rubber.  She always made me feel like an important part of the family.

I only knew her for a couple of years.  She passed three months after we were married, but I will be forever blessed by the short time she touched my life.

You are loved and missed Mae Fern.

The Beauty of Water

It's the rainy season here in Oregon.  It's the thing that keeps everything green and beautiful - and it has a beauty of it's own.....

The Tranquility of the Beach

I have a busy life.  I work full time managing a child care center.  I'm writing my Master's thesis and I write four blogs.  I have a house, a husband and four cats to care for.  And when it all seems to be overwhelming, I go to the beach to bring my spirit back into alignment with the present.

The wildly crashing and gently rolling waves lull me into the here and now.

The Beauty of the Forests

California Redwoods
As fall begins to gently creep into the air, I find myself musing over the beauty of the forests.  Surrounded by tall, majestic trees and sitting, listening to the inhabitants of the tree tops and roots - And I am lulled into a quietness in my soul.

Oregon Coastal Range - Seeking the Fungi

We went into the Oregon Coastal range yesterday looking for wild mushrooms to take home and cook.  We found some fungi, but not the kind to take home for cooking.  We also found some wild life.  We headed up the long, winding road to the Drift Creek Falls trail head (although we didn't hike out to the falls).

We pulled over into a clearing to check it out and here is what we found!
